I have rewritten the login routine and the other various security "checkpoints" in PHP and they are working! It looks like this port from ASP to PHP is going to be more of a total rewrite. After analyzing the bulk of the ASP code, I see much room for improvement. Hopefully the rewrite won't slow me down too much.

Migration to new server begins

Currently, TheReader resides as an ASP/MSAccess application on a fairly basic server hosted in my office with a 3 MB down / 1 MB up RoadRunner connection. My goal is to move it to a dedicated Athlon 2500 server hosted at ServerBeach with a pile of bandwidth. This will take a little bit of time, since the ServerBeach server is a Linux box with PHP/mySQL.

Tonight, I setup the web space and migrated the database from MSAccess to mySQL. Next step is to rewrite the login routine with PHP. I will post updates to this migration as they are completed.
